Learning Objectives
Students will develop balance, coordination, teamwork, and creativity by recreating Balance It poses and capturing them through a fun photo challenge.
Materials Needed
Devices with cameras (tablets or smartphones)
Balance It app or printed balance cards
Space for posing and movement
Instructions
Warm-Up (5 minutes)
Begin with gentle dynamic stretches and movement to prepare the body for balance activities.
Balance It Photo Challenge (30 minutes)
Divide students into small groups.
Provide each group with a device that has a camera and access to the Balance It app or cards.
Students select poses from the app and work together to recreate and photograph them.
Encourage clear communication, creativity in execution, and safe participation.
Circulate and provide support, feedback, and encouragement during the activity.
Cool Down and Reflection (5 minutes)
Lead the class through calming stretches and deep breathing.Discuss:
What poses were the most enjoyable or challenging?
How did each team work together?
What strategies helped them succeed?
Sharing and Voting (5 minutes)
Each group selects and shares their favorite photo with the class.
As a class, vote on the most creative or well-executed pose (excluding their own).
Celebrate the winning group and acknowledge everyone’s efforts and creativity.
Assessment
Observe students’ engagement, pose accuracy, and teamwork. Offer verbal feedback and note improvements in balance control and group collaboration
Extension Activities
Encourage students to:
Create their own balance challenges
Try poses with added difficulty (e.g., eyes closed, longer hold)
Incorporate themes, stories, or music into future balance routines
